Personal transportation systems - no fill-up's required.

Toyota Motor on Friday showed off a new stand-up scooter that could one day be seen zipping alongside the Segway on the personal-transporter superhighway.

The "Winglet" has a body the size of an A3 sheet of paper that houses an electric motor, two wheels, and internal sensors that constantly monitor the rider's position and make adjustments in power to ensure stability.

And last but not least, the Easy-Glider....The X6 Easy-Glider has a top speed of around 12 MPH, a range of around 9 to 16 miles depending on surface conditions, and takes between six to eight hours to recharge.

It's no secret that I've recently learned to knit.

What inspired me to learn and has hooked my inner artist is the incredible variety of artisan yarns available at local yarn shops. The textures, rich colors and variations means there's no limit to creativity.

From felting to hand knitted socks, there are projects and patterns, classes and knitting groups that are trendy, fashionable and satisfying to make.

Music and Food - what could be better....

We were fortunate enough to be the audience at an exclusive, private session by performance artist Thomasina Petrus and her keyboard accompanist, Tom West at our downtown offices. Thomasina is an amazing jazz/blues singer, actress and entrepreneur, who shared her fabulous talent and tasty cashew brittle with us. She also has a CD "Billie Unsung", available for purchase online!

One reason we're lucky to live here:

The downtown Minneapolis jazz scene has been smokin' hot thanks to some fabulous venues, such as Rossi's Blue Star Room and Dakota Jazz Club which feature a variety of musicians, both local and national.

MIX IT UP!

The latest craze in cocktails isn't the dirty martini...... It's anything your local Mixologist can shake, stir, or blend up on the fly.

Fresh herbs (rosemary, sage, lavender and thyme are favorites), fresh squeezed juices like kiwi, pomegranate and passion fruit paired with herbal infused syrups and garnished with thick wedges of Meyer's Lemon, blood oranges & persimmon, make these cocktails stand out.
Next time you're out and about and looking for adventure, ask the bartender to make you something interesting and fun! Most are thrilled for the opportunity to be creative and use these fabulous ingredients. (be prepared to give a little feedback!)

If you're game for experimenting at home, make a quick trip to your local farmers market (Mill City is my fav) for some fragrant, fresh herbs and the liquor store to pick up some Elixir G (ginger and lemon) and Absolute Pear vodka. Strain into that vintage martini glass you inherited from Grandma, top with a splash of soda, garnish with a sprig of fresh, pungent basil and that's a glass of summer right there.

Rosemary Meyer Lemon Drop
An herbal delight brightened by the sweetness of Meyer lemons.
Recipe per drink
• 2 oz. Vodka
• 1 oz. Meyer lemon juice
• 1 tbsp. fresh rosemary leaves
• 1 tbsp. organic honey
Place rosemary leaves and honey in a mixing glass. Heat in a microwave for 5-10 seconds to melt honey. Muddle in glass for 10 seconds. Add crushed ice and other ingredients. Cover with metal mixing tin and shake for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a rosemary sprig. PhotoCredit:Jamie Boudreau
